VOCATION
The call to the catholic priesthood is a holy one. It is only God who calls, thus, the Letter to the Hebrews says “No one take this honour upon himself except the one who is called as Aaron was” (Heb. 5:4).
Funny enough, no one can really point out the particular quality God seeks from those who express interest to the priesthood. There are hardly any analogous tendencies and qualities common to all of them. However candidates to the priesthood are expected to possess a deep love for God and His Church, a reasonable degree of intelligence, morality and spirituality. Above all they must be gentlemen and be full of discipline and self control.
One fact that may not be denied is that God always provides enough graces to those whom he calls. Seminarians as future priests are therefore encouraged to use the period of their seminary formation to develop priestly qualities and pray for proper discernment of their true vocation in life. The seminary authorities, parents as well as all faithful have an obligation to help young seminarians to realize their vocation.
God who has called you is always faithful and will not abandon you.
